Some good movies out this Friday
Friday 1st September
The Wicker Man
Nicolas Cage is the uptight copper, Neil LaBute is in the director's (hopefully not wicker) chair and the match is lit for his remake of the masterful 1976 horror.
The Sentinel
Michael Douglas is a disgraced Special Agent who must foil a plot to assassinate the President of the United States. Kim Basinger, Kiefer Sutherland and Eva Longoria help out.
Little Man
The Wayans brothers (White Chicks, Scary Movie) are it again with a 'comedy' about a dad who mistakes a criminal dwarf for his newly adopted son. Oh lord.
Crank
Think Speed but in one man's body as Jason Statham plays a poisoned hitman who'll die if his heartrate drops. Who said high concept can't be fun?
Adrift
Six friends in the sea, a luxury yacht and one problem: their swanky boat hasn't got a ladder and they've left a baby on board. Rather comic plot aside, it's meant to be a horror.
Friday 8th September
Snow Cake
Sigourney Weaver is an autistic mother, Alan Rickman her new carer in Brit director Marc Evans surprisingly funny drama.
Beerfest
Lager-fuelled comedy from the director of ahem, The Dukes Of Hazzard about two Yanks who discover ancient drinking games at the Munich booze fest.
Pulse
This time it's a bit of sinister software that's infected in the latest Yank remake of a Japanese spoof.
Little Miss Sunshine
Steve Carell, Toni Collette and Greg Kinnear headline a darkly delicious comedy about the Hoover family and their efforts to ensure their daughter wins a surreal beauty pageant.
Right At Your Door
A dirty bomb goes off in LA in this disaster movie with a difference. Mary McCormack and Rory Cochrane are the ones trying to avoid the fallout.

DOA: Dead Or Alive
The Transporter helmer Cory Yuen brings the videogame to the big screen with a cast that includes Corrie actor Matthew Marsden and er, Holly Valance. Expect lots of girls with swords.
The Black Dahlia
Brian De Palma directs James Ellroy's noir tale about two LA detectives (Josh Hartnett and Aaron Eckhart) on the trail of the murderer of a wannabe actress. Scarlett Johansson tries out her femme fatale routine.
The Night Listener

The Queen
