Just had this email with regard to the TMS article that Bec wrote back in 2005!
"Hi Bec,having just become the proud owner of the Shrews v Barnet Sept.05 programme(don't ask;it's a long story) I read, with interest,your page regarding What's in a name.To my knowledge the reason Barnet are called the Bees(yes,their name starts with B-I think you'll find Brentford hijacked that one;get your own bloody nickname)but I think you'll find the name comes from the fact that Barnet traditionally played in Black&Yellow stripes for a good part of their history-hence Bees and not B,s!I hope this doesn't sound too anally retentive.Yours in Black&Amber,going to Rushden on a nail biter,Tim(known to a good number of your supporters as Barnetboy)Devlin.COME ON YOU BEES!"
