The World Cup version of Quanto is slightly different to the usual Shrewsbury Town format so please take time to read the following rules. I have split the competition into two parts.
The game will initially focus on England but if England do get knocked out during the group stages then the competition can move to another team, so please check back on a regular basis.
Part 1 is the usual squad number and yellow card guess as seen in the last two years of the game.
Part 2 offers you the chance to win extra points by selecting who you think will win each group and then who you think will lift the trophy.
If you have any questions or are unsure of the rules then please post under this thread or PM me and I will answer them for you.
Rules:
Part 1
1) Predictions must be Private Messaged (PM'd) to me (Mark) by midnight on the evening before the game. In the interest of fairness I will PM my predictions to Skally.
2) The total number must include any likely subs that take part in the game. Non playing subs will not be counted.
3) Points will be awarded as follows:
45 points for a correct guess
35 points if you are either side of the actual number by 2
25 points if you are either side of the actual number by 4
15 points if you are either side of the actual number by 6
10 points if you are either side of the actual number by 8
5 points if you are either side of the actual number by 10
2 points if you are either side of the actual number by 15
4) As well as a total for the squad numbers you will have the chance to earn extra points by predicting the number of yellow cards that will be awarded to England players during the match. Points will be awarded as follows:
10pts - Spot on amount of cards
5pts - 1 away from the amount of cards
2pts - 2 away from the amount of cards
Anything more than two away does not score any points.
5) The league table will be posted after every England match along with the the squad number total.
How to predict:
If you think that the England defence will be:
Robinson, Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, Cole - then that would mean 17, as this is the total of their squad numbers. You then add onto that the squad numbers of the rest of the team you think will play and also any subs that SGE may use to get your squad number score.
You then predict how many yellow cards you think will be awarded to England players and post that under your squad number guess.
So your prediction each week will look like this:
Squad number: 121
Yellow cards: 1
Part 2
This is where you have the chance to add extra points to your total score by selecting:
Group A winners:
Group B winners:
Group C winners:
Group D winners:
Group E winners:
Group F winners:
Group G winners:
Group H winners:
Only a spot-on counts here and each correct guess will be awarded 10 points.
Finally you need to predict:
World Cup winners:
World Cup runners up:
Each correct guess here will see you awarded 20 points.
Predictions for Part 2 of World Cup Quanto must be PM'd to me (Mark) by midnight 8/june/2006. Once again in the interest of fairness I will PM mine to Skally.
The extra points from Part 2 of the competition will be added to the league table after the group stages, and then again after the World Cup Final to determine who will be the TMS World Cup Quanto Champion 2006!
