Someone made a good point on sky sports news, if we can't win it without him then i dont think we deserve to win it at all.
I agree its a big blow but i see an ideal replacement in Defoe and Harewood for Owen and Rooney

the good news is that Owen had an X Ray this morning and everything came back normal, so at least he is ok. We do have a good enough squad to win the world cup, but loosing a player of Rooneys quality could be a big blow for our chances. Regardless, Rooney will go to Germany, Sven will pick him for sure

24 hours on and both strikers are doing well. Michael is feeling much better and Wayne is confident he can be fit for the later stages of the world cup.
I think we can manage without Wayne for the group games, question is will he be able to get match fitness in time

England midfielder Steven Gerrard said it would be "impossible" for England to succeed in this summer's World Cup without striker Wayne Rooney. The 20-year-old's participation is in doubt after he broke a bone in his foot playing on Saturday against Chelsea.
"It would be a disaster for England if we had to go to the World Cup without Wayne. He is idolised around the country and is our main man," he said.

just been watching "the last word" on sky sports - they all agree to take Wayne even if he is not fit. You have to agree with that. A 1/2 fit Wayne or a fully fit Harewood?!

A 1/2 fit Wayne or a fully fit Harewood?! agree totally, its a big 23 man squad, not as if we are going to need everybody, well worth having the likes of rooney and owen in the squad even if unfit
