Fifa will consider allowing three yellow cards before a suspension in future World Cups following the record number of cautions at the 2006 finals. Two bookings in the group stage or knockout phase currently leads to a one-match ban for a player.
"In future perhaps there should be three yellow cards in a round before a suspension. It's something we will take up," said Fifa president Sepp Blatter.
Some 27 red cards and 331 yellows had been issued after 60 of the 64 matches.
Blatter said the three-booking rule would help stop situations where players on one yellow card are genuinely unfortunate to pick up a second in the semi-finals and miss the final through suspension.

Yes he's a prick, but he's a prick who might actually have got it right for once, in my opinion. This way, a yellow in each of the knockout games would ban you from the final - fair enough. Though I'd like to see it dropped to two yellows once in the quarter final match, again to punish cheats by kicking them out of the showpiece event.
Of course, having a decent post-match review system would come in handy too to stop inappropriate yellows being logged...

It would if you got a yellow in the 1/4s and the 1/2s but see what you mean. Awkward one this.
